Stars, I'm a goalie too. I think our experience in net is part of why we admire this save so much - we know how hard it would have been for us to pull it off. Some people should spend just a few minutes between the pipes so they can really understand how good an athlete and how skilled you have to be to play the position at the highest level.

One of the greatest shootout goalies against one of the greatest snipers in the history of the nhl
this is definitley my favorite hockey playoff moment of all time
(im a rangers fan)

I agree..Penalty shot in the finals..he made the same save on bure in the all star game the same year. mikey was one of the most technical and one of the most athletic gaolies to play the game. volk's probably just another Ranger hater.

True. Trust me, I'm a goalie myself, and that save Richter pulled, was one of the greatest I have ever seen.

A penalty shot can be called after the red line, if a player is freely on the way and for example tripped, like Bure was here.
washingtoncapitalsss (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
that should have not been a penalty shot he was tripped before the blue line watch carefully

NOT a great save?
Trust me, you and your dumbass opinion are in the smallest of minorities in the history of minorities. This is universally acknowledged as one of the most spectacular high-pressure situation saves ever.

Then you know nothing about hockey, this hands down one of the top 5 saves in the history of hockey. Richter is one of the smartest goaltenders ever.
VOLKSN8R (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
This is NOT a great save by Richter, just a SHITTY play by Bure.
Gooster43 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
This never gets old. One of the best saves ever. |
