I've only listened to Satanic Panic In The Attic... brilliant is not a powerful enough adjective to describe it

Not trying to go off topic but Of Montreal's 'The First Four Track Recordings' I think it's called? Is a really really awesome album.

There's still great stuff out there. You have to dig a little deeper again to find it. The 90's were fun because the music industry was in turmoil. They took more chances because they thought "what the hell, this might sell and if it doesn't we can drop them." Luckily we're in the information age and finding new music has never been easier. I'm really digging Deerhoof and Of Montreal at the moment (the guitar player in my band introduced me to their music)

That's the way it always is in every genre everywhere.
Literature, music, painting, sculpture...The center cannot hold.

yeah, but it is sadly clumped and labeled in the same generic category. now the mainstream define alternative music as such.

it's sad that alternative rock music started on such a nice course with the Pixies, Nirvana, the Smiths, etc, and had to crash with a lot of modern day shitty, sadly popular acts like Nickelback and Creed. |
