I'd go with Eddie on that. In technical terms Vai is amazing, he has a deep understanding of most musical styles on guitar and can turn his hand to just about anything, however, to you or me who just want a decent guitar lick, it can get a bit boring. When it comes to coming out with awesome riff after awesome riff, and writing songs that people really love and remember, Eddie wins hands down.
