It's a subject you can't win. If you look at blacks differently, you are a racist. If you look at them as equals or expect them to be like everyone else, then you are ignorant (and probably racist). I was friends with a black guy, but he did not like that I described someone as black. Be proud, be black, screw everyone else. Stop making it awkward and worrying about what white people think and vice versa.

Yea, everyone is too afraid of ruffling feathers to have real reasoned discussion about race. We as American people need to wake up and take responsibility for what happened. I truly believe that African slaves brought to North America were stripped of their culture, language, history and identity. The point is not to blame white people but see history for what it is. What is really needed is a sense of humanity, brotherhood and realization that we are all beautiful , thinking creatures =))

that word isnt going anywhere anytime soon because whites called blacks the n word to degrade them and to make them less of a human but blacks have taken the word back and changed the word and the meaning. whites can say the n word just not around blacks lol

honselsty, i dont think anyone should say it because it just brings negativity to the table. i know that when different people use it, they mean different things, but it's still said and the meaning is muffled. i'm gay and hearing the word FAGGOT really pisses me off. and it pisses me off even more when other gay guys say it. if we want change, we have to be positive and make a conscious effort. we wont get anywhere if we linger on stupid things like this.

Hasselblack is not evil, but she deffo lives in her lilly white cocoon.She is the pefect example of the whites I deal with regulary. when sheer ignorance is questionned, the either react with outrage or try hard to pretend the issue is imaginary.I never used the N word, I am black as they come.I don't recall any of relatives using it either.And I know more black people that any white will ever do.Hat woman speak of black people in general term.we are just a "thought" for her lol!

It has become apparent that most of the individuals on this page do not know true racism if you look among the hispanic cultures there is more disgust for people from other countries within there own race, as well as if you think that I owe you anything even as far as accepting responsibility for the disgusting oppression of slavery, than you have lost your mind, I did not exist then and I am sure that most of you did not either and again hatred is blind, you would be wise to remember that

I think it's just takin the power back from the word and just really changing the meaning. The word 'gay' meant happy a few decades ago but now means homosexual jus like nigga was a derogatory term now its a term of affection. We dont like the whites using it coz they don't understand the process of changing pain in victory. U cant turn around and use a weapon for salvation so they cant use their oppressive word as endearment. simple. FYI we do live in diff worlds that are class-divided nt race

Blacks and Whites feel aggrieved that society tells them not to use that word but in the words of a great comedian, Stewart Lee: "political correctness is a clumsy formalized politeness" Both blacks and whites have agreed to compromise for each other's sake and not to use that word in the open. Otherwise we would be having this heated debate everyday of our lives. Lets not lose sight of the fact that this PC attitude is something that both sides have come to together. I'm black by the way.
