Soundtrack from Into the Wild - by Eddie Vedder. This is also a tribute to Christopher McCandless. Based on a true story. After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandoned his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters who shape his life. Song Lyrics: hmmm ooh hooo hooo It's a mistery to me we have a greed with which we have agreed You think you have to want more than you need until you have it all you won't be free society, you're a crazy breed I hope you're not lonely without me When you want more than you have you think you need and when you think more than you want your thoughts begin to bleed I think I need to find a bigger place 'cos when you have more than you think you need more space society, you're a crazy breed I hope you're not lonely without me society, crazy and deep I hope you're not lonely without me there's those thinking more or less less is more but if less is more how you're keeping score? Means for every point you make your level drops kinda like its starting from the top you can't do that... society, you're a crazy breed I hope you're not lonely without me society, crazy and deep I hope you're not lonely without me society, have mercy on me I hope you're not angry if I disagree society, crazy and deep I hope you're not lonely without me

Basically, he lost interest in sociological instinct. The modern foundation for out current society. Our life consists of education, poverty, work, and death. He understood that that's ridiculous. We don't need to be living on the internet, or in video games. The day's teens and children are seen as brash and defiant, but that's because our time is so much different. Whoa, I went off on a whole 'nother tangent. Whatever, Eddie Vedder kicks ass.

I totally agree, and I would like to add something: What is best? To SURVIVE in a society that enchains you, that manipulates you and that blinds you from real beauties; or to LIVE the most you can, even if that means risking your life, the way you think it should be lived? Life itself is beautiful: If you think it isn't, open your eyes on all it can offers you. You will see that all you could find ugly is human-made.

RIR, Who says he desired to live forever?

If only we had less and learned to give more this world would be such a better place to live in.

people he just made a mistake, when your weak and tired and the brains not functioning properly, u make mistakes and that mistake cost him his life. people come and go, young or old its apart of life. he lived and did more than most do in a lifetime.

You just don't get it Rooster. In the words of DiVinncci "Do not fear death so much, but rather the inadequate life. Do what you must, with the only regret being any moment when you might have chosen to do otherwise. " Suicide is the choice to end your life because one feels life is no longer worth living. MaCandless died because the sort of existence most of us live today was unacceptable and ammounted to a premature spiritual death that would have preceeded the actual, physical one. Get it?

Sorry but that is total bullshit. McCandless did not sacrifice everything. He was desparate to live hence his note saying so. Total stupidity, which was sadly suicidal in this case. Still love the song, but I find his death to be sensless, and a squandered life of what was clearly a gifted and beautiful human being.

People have it wrong-this wasn't suicide. It's just something wer'e not used to seeing in our apathetic society-a willingness to sacrifice everything for your ideals, even your life. Which is more tragic? Dying doing what you want to do, and need to do in your heart, or passing the time in long years only to find out that what you had been living all that time-was not life? If you want the ultimate, be prepared to pay the ultimate price.
