...So I take it you're saying Tolkien had neither will nor intellect, because you know he was Catholic. I don't know what part of the west you're from, but where I'm from practically everyone is Christian, and I disagree that Catholics don't have the will or intellect to find the "truth", if the truth you speak of is anything else than God.

Tolkien said there were Seven Balrogs, whether he meant in total or after the first age was never explicitly stated, but even if he meant in total, that leaves Three or Four after the Balrog of Moria.

Actually, I do believe it was Eru Illuvatar that did that. He's the big high mucky-muck. Though I keep forgetting if his name has one "l" or two. <_<

Balrogs were tall, menacing humanoid beings, with the ability to shroud themselves in fire, darkness, and shadow. The balrog gandalf figth against is the same that killed durin. This balrog was the probrably last balrog who where alive during the third age. The other balrogs where killed in the in the War of wraths.

That thing would have died in the lake at the bottom, it being fire and all. So why couldn't Galdalf save himself the whole ressurection business by just doing one chin-up to get up and over the cliff? He can cast crazy spells but can't do a chin-up? LOL. Stupid comments, I know. The scene was very well shot. |
