I think the letters at the bottom are from the main menu. With the exception of the number 5. 1 Player, 2 Player vs etc....

Um, look at the S2Beta ROM. THAT'S the real level layout. That is the true beta, Yuji Naka even says it.

That´s it. The layout still there, but the block (or the graphics, if you prefer) is loaded from the next level on the ROM, and that level is Oil Ocean, if the next level on the ROM was Emereld Hill, the block that HPz will copy is gonna be from EHz and so on...
I didn´t modify the stage, I just show his true face on Sonic 2 Final.

All what they did Hidden Palace's graphics with OOZ's. The layout of Hidden Palace is still the same.

That's because they attempted to get rid of the zone because they couldn't finish it. All the graphics were removed, the level slot and object placement is still intact.

I can't help but think that this music was from Ecco. The sound isn't on there from the game, I know that, but where is the music from? It sounds unbelievably like Ecco.
