I was there at the academy of art in SF when she made a presentation on this. she actually said that she didn't read any comics, (or wasn't really into them)

I love Exit Wounds and think Rutu Modan's really multitalented; if the writing was bad the drawings would make up for it and if the drawings were bad the writing would make up for it, but they're both excellent!
