I've heard both versions and Johnny Cash made this song HIS. Awesome song and video. Very emotional. Its like his whole life and epitaph in 4 minutes.

i think about my dad when i hear this song, too. my dad died in a car accident when i was almost ten. the main connection he has with this song was that he was a drunk.

im 13. love the old stuff, country isnt what it used to be. i like alan jackson and some people, but like some of these guys dont sing country and western music. i am just glad that the old music is still around.
