Why the black babe had to be eatin' watermelon?
Why the Asian baby had to be sooooo occupied by a top - only to entertain?
It's not racist - in it's time. As in it's time this was not considered ignorant. Now it would be considered ignorant.

i agree with the others - despite its obvious racial problems, it was normal for the time and this will never ceease to be an adorable timeless classic. you'll never find a cartoon drawn and animated as smoothly as this ever again! its all CG crud... Betty Boop- legend.

the7thwreck (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
does anyone actually find this cartoon racist? (not including PC loving whites)
sirsniffy (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Wow. Then again, there were many prevailing stereotypes of that period that were pretty much accepted in everyday life. It's still a cute cartoon.
Morpun (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
EXACTLY all the more racist back then
fatoldjew (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)

but whatever it surpisly entaining.

Well, the baby was shooting things with his toy rifle and I kept thinking bout the Japanese and World War II.
That's why I asked when this was made. I don't know if that was intentional or not. |
