I think you are confusing Starlings with crows & allies, they might eat an egg or two in spring, not Starlings. They don't have the right beaks for it. And Starlings are 'halve-migratorial' species (if that's a word). Starlings in England migrate south in Autumn but get replaced by Starlings from Scandinavia and continental Europe so there are Starlings yearround in England.

breathtakingly beautiful

I'd like to stress that this was filmed in the UK, where there isn't a problem with nest predation, and starlings are a migrant species. In the US it is clearly a case of an introduced species affecting an ecosystem it isn't meant to be a part of. Who do we think the most destructive 'animal' on the planet is?! Now can we please enjoy this beautiful spectacle for a few minutes without being reminded of killing?

I think you're horrible for killing these beautiful, brilliant birds. Starlings get a bad rap. They are not the ferocious nest stealers everyone thinks them to be. They also eat many pests that damage crops. Shame on you!

I especially love the way they fluter to the ground after I shoot them.

They both have robbed so many of the native American birds nest sites and migrating nesting birds sites, such as the Tree Swallow, Blue Bird, Purple Martin, Screech Owl, Kestrel Hawk, and Wood Pecker to name a few. I have Purple Martins every year and every I kill Starlings and English Sparrow. The Starling and Sparrow will kill our birds if you let them live. The majority of the people who like these birds in the U.S. must live in the city.

People in the United States must try and kill these birds along with the English Sparrow. What a mistake to bring these birds to the U.S.

i would love to see this in reality - anyone know where in the UK this is possible? and when? Thanks

people assume that each bird just reacts to the other birds around them, but mathematical modelling of visual tracking data suggests that they are actually flying in small socially familiar "squadrons", tracking each other regardless of distance. imagine the entire flock stuck together by a massive stretchy three-dimensional spider-web.
