That globe thing in the control room is probobly getting a picture from the star box. and, it's not really an egg, but in the room you get to through the vent system, the box in the wall under the grate at the :50 mark is a control panel. open it, and pull a lever to see where that locked door goes. I don't know if you know about this already or not.
