Means not to be discriminated. Remember in history Rosa Parks in civil rights????

Back in the old days black people had to sit in the back of the bus. It was discrimination. So the quote is in reference to the way things were, when people were being discriminated against."I didn't raise my kids to sit in the back of the bus." Meaning: she didn't raise her kids to allow themselves to be treated that way.

one of the greatest movies ever made. Shows our prejudices, how quickly we judge others and fight for dignity.

They could also mean that they didn't raise their children to just sit and watch and not do anything, in which case the "bus thing" might be aimed towards the apartheid when blacks had to sit in the back of the bus and just accept it.
But that's just my guess..

Kids that sit at the back of the bus usually have a reputation for not being well behaved.
So whoever said that more or less claimed they raised their kids as well behaved kids.
