I definitely DO NOT agree with "Plus some guy off the street still may just smash you without any formal training if he grew up on streets". Just because he 'grew up on streets' means he can smash up a person trained in a specific form of self-defense?No. Just...no.There are competition martial arts and there are self-defense martial arts. I would call Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (the specific method developed by Helio Gracie) and Krav Maga as self-defense martial arts.

Not necessarily. It all depends on where you train krav maga. For instance, I train in Columbia, MD, and they teach us reflexes, stance, rapid attacks, the basic strikes and footwork. If someone on the street would try to "Smash" a krav maga practitioner, he would be pummeled with rapid attacks and blows. You won't learn as much as you expect in a couple krav courses. It takes time to learn. The problem with KF is their stnce is unstable, and it's not based on your reflexes. krav is.

I've done a couple of courses in krav Maga and although it is good I wouldnt go so far as to say it is the most effective. My kung fu sifu taught us in a much similar manner even with a more traditional style. Krav Maga didn't really teach me anything new. It's how you train and your mindset in training. Plus some guy off the street still may just smash you without any formal training if he grew up on streets.

I took aikido as well. I switched to this. I know this video looks very fake, but it's to give you a feel for krav. If you want to see a demo, look one up. Krav Maga is the most effective martial art. This is not a very good demo. This is only to describe this self-defense system. The cops use it, SWAT uses it, and the iraeli army. This is definitely the most trustable thing out there.

no your right krav maga can't be used in mma. Its real life. Its used as a last resort. Its to disable and in many cases severely injure or kill your openents.

try and MMA someone with a gun, then when you are rolling around on the ground with him his buddy just knifes you in the back...KM isn't for sport bs like MMA, it's for real life
